entry.htm is a javascript driven webpage that might be of use to club managers,
directors and ultimately bridge players.
For special events, there are often hand records, in hard copy, paper, for
players to take home.
The American Contract Bridge League ACBL for its sanctioned events sends out
hand records as part of packages for very special events.
Almost all bridge clubs have other LESSER special events, including club championships,
charity games and simply games with hand records as the special attraction.
For those clubs that like to print out their own hand records, there are a
number of hand record generators available.
In the making of hand records via such generators, an original copy is made
(two sides), taken to a printer (perhaps several sets at once), and volume
copying discounts available.
The duplicated hands are constructed either by the club employees or by the
players at the tables.
entry.htm allows players to simply shuffle and play the hands (while the director/assistant
records them (via data "entry"), prints out some number of finished products,
and uploads the html version on the internet cross-referenced with the recap
sheet.
Perhaps eventually the hand record generators will routinely produce webpages
to be so posted, as an option.
Various forms of hand records in html have been posted on the internet for
many years.
VuGraph online hand record presentations have been around for many years.
Perhaps the only new dimension of entry.htm is the combining of some number
of functions already seen in some form or another, in addition to the links
to a 2nd javascript driven webpage "handTEMPLATE.htm"
handTEMPLATE.htm is a javascript driven webpage that might be of use to bridge writers, directors, officials, teachers and players of various skill levels.
The links from within "entry.htm" to "handTEMPLATE.htm" facilitate the writing
of bridge stories that can be sent via email or posted online.
One practiced in the process should be able to click a link from entry.htm,
enter an auction in the address bar of handTEMPLATE.htm and within 1 minute
have created an html webpage compatible with all browsers, somewhat comparable
with syndicated online bridge columnist format renditions.
Before this two webpage/utility combination, preparing a bridge diagram+auction
basis for just 1 bridge story might have taken up to an hour. One hour of
work reduced to one minute.
There are various ways to custom design the two webpages/utilities and their
products to suit.
